With the support of BAU International University Batumi, sixth-year medical students Giga Gogadze and Mtvarisa Bolkvadze from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences carried out a social initiative to support public health in the mountainous municipalities of Adjara.
As part of the initiative, the students visited local residents door-to-door and conducted preventive health screenings. A total of 65 residents were examined. The screenings identified three previously undiagnosed cases of type 2 diabetes. These individuals were advised to undergo further medical examinations and receive appropriate follow-up care.
The students also shared information about the importance of monitoring blood pressure, managing blood glucose levels, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and detecting chronic diseases at an early stage.
