Masters Tops-Ups

The MSc Advanced Hydrography for Professionals programme consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level-7 for:
1. Predominantly employed professional students from the hydrographic industry who have studied up to PGDip level to date.
2. Students wishing to apply using general credit from other PGDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions, or as professionals from industry
During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

The MSc Advanced Meteorology for Professionals programme consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level 7 for:
1. Predominantly employed professional students working within the discipline of meteorology, who have studied up to PGDip level to date.
2. Students wishing to apply using general credit from other PGDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions, or as professionals from industry
During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

The MSc Advanced Navigation for Professionals programme consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level 7 for:
1. Predominantly employed individuals working as professional mariners, who have studied up to PGDip level to date.
2. Students wishing to apply using general credit from other PGDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions, or as professional mariners
During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

The MSc Advanced Oceanography for Professionals programme consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level-7 for:
1. Predominantly employed professional students from working in the discipline of marine sciences, who have studied up to PGDip level to date.
2. Students wishing to apply using general credit (APEL) from other PGDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions, or as professionals from industry
During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

The MSc Engineering for Marine Professionals programme consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level 7 for:
1. Predominantly employed engineering professionals seeking Chartered status.
2. Employed professional students from the marine industry who may be qualified to BEng Level and have a significant level of professional experience.
3. Students wishing to apply using general credit from other PgDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions, or as professionals from industry.
During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

The MSc Sustainable Maritime Operations project consists of a stand-alone 60 credit research module, which provides the opportunity to complete a full 180 credits at Level 7 for:

Predominantly employed individuals working in the maritime industry, who have studied up to PGDip level to date.

Students wishing to apply using general credit from other PGDip or full MSc programmes at other institutions.

During the programme, students will have the opportunity to undertake advanced research methods training, project planning, data management and statistics; and carry out independent research as part of the MSc Project.

A “top-up” Masters degree is the research project phase (60 level 7 credits) of the programme aimed at those wishing to gain a full UK Postgraduate degree, possibly upgrading from another previous achievement.

The programme offers one core award, the MBA, with the option of subject specialism pathways, resulting in the following pathway titles being available:
